Vi har ännu ej besökt denna Restaurang, men den har en säregen historia.
Öppnades redan på 1930-talet och verkar än i denna dag i samma hus.

HISTORY OF NYKTERIDA
In 1922, after the big catastrophe of Asia Minor, the dancing teacher Yiannis Mastoridis arrives in Chania from Izmir.
He teaches the dances of the era to the youngsters of the town, who, a decade later, are to become the first customers of Nykterida, the restaurant that opens in 1933, six years before the Second World War, in exactly the same building as a today!
In 1940 the restaurant is confiscated and used as a club by the Germans.
After the war guests of Nykterida include Winston Churchill, Aristoteles Onasis, the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, Alan Bates, Aliki Vougiouklaki, Jenny Karezi, George Bush, Andreas Papandreou, Melina Merkouri, the Mitsotakis family.
Great personalities of world renown, that influenced the history of politi, of the art of the sciences in the 20th century… At Nykterida Anthony Quinn was taught by Yannis Mastoridis bow to dance the sirtaki that be danced in the film "Zorba the Greek".
How many citizens of Chania, though, danced their first tango at Mastoridis? How many young people fell in love overlooking the wonderfull view of the Suda Bay and under the full moon at Nykterida?
Today, Babis Mastoridis, son of Yanni, welcomes the visitors with a warm smile, flawless service and the traditional recipes that everybody loves, but do not find easily in a restaurant. His veneration for the greatness of the Cretan cuisine mirrors itself in the food, the homemade sweets and delicious tsikoudia.
Restaurant Nykterida -the nights are unique- perfect surroundings for a twosome as well as for a 500 people wedding party.
